Ten Tips for Data Center Site Selection

.Podatkovni center should be located in a stable geography. Choosing (or building) a data center located in a flood plain or a tectonic fault lines that regularly produces earthquakes and not a good idea. Much of New Orleans, for example, several meters below sea level, a publicly revealed during the Katrina hurricane disaster. As global warming continues to power the world during the "heat engine" tornadoes will become a bigger problem, which leads to either the construction of the bunker like structures, or data centers in such areas will be placed on safe ground.

Given the current terrorist threat, plopping down a computer object in the middle of big cities is not a good idea either. After the international telecommunications company named Interoute Telecom has struck two terrorist attacks (the Irish Republican Army blew up one of their buildings in London Docklands area housing a large AXE10 Ericsson telecom switch area - which continues to run, then the company lost its New York at 9 / 11 disaster) the company's founder, Simon Taylor and Nick Razey, I decided to go into the business data center. They observed that many companies in New York moved its data center from New York to New Jersey, Connecticut, and various other relatively distant points. So, when they founded Next Generation Data and built Europe's largest data center, 750,000 square foot NGD Europe (also known as NGD1), they are located far from London, in Wales, where property is cheap and energy is abundant.

Make sure you build a computer connection, where there are significant tax benefits. U.S. state and local governments offer all kinds of incentives for data center operations, and even customized incentive programs offering partial or even complete exemption from sales / use taxes on equipment, building materials, and perhaps even backup electricity and fuel costs.

In a world of increased user demand, you want the data center, which offers a fiber optic tube, also connected to the construction of several carriers. ("Carrier-neutral" conditioned facility .)

We also need your optical tube to be capable of supporting redundancy in the event of a disaster, and the diverse paths for load distribution data.

Your building must be close to an emerging population of users: China, Singapore, etc. It is not absolutely necessary, but it is good to lessen the number of "jumps" to customers and to, the possibility of interruption or high latency of signaling back and forth. Silicon Valley includes some of the world's largest technology corporations (Apple, Cisco, Google, HP, Intel, etc.), as well as top universities. It's no wonder that data center construction boomed in the region, with a market measure more than 5 million square feet of space object from mid-2011.

Do not insert or select a center in the vicinity of other companies were manufacturing, trade and transportation of hazardous materials. New Jersey's "chemical coast" is one such example.

Try placing your data center is a cool climate, so that "free cooling" can be used to cool equipment rather than solely using air conditioning or "coolers" as they are known.

Do not pick up a data center located in the flight path of the major airports. (Once in a blue moon, they fall and go boom .)

Keep the racks and computers from the basement of the building, or anyone else, for that matter. Secondary computing and storage must be securely away, and not below the population that can cause trouble (accidentally set fire sprinkler systems and started flooding, and so on ).

Now, go back and calculate!
